CASE STUDY: UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO HOSPITAL

Challenge:
Installation of New Voice System

University Hospital (UH) is a 393 bed acute care and major teaching facility serving greater Denver and Colorado. The hospital services about 250,000 outpatients per year. UH is the teaching institution for the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. UH is the region's leading tertiary and quarternary care and referral center and is designated Level 1 Trauma Center. US News & World Report rate “University Hospital the number 1 Hospital in Colorado”. 

 
Solution: Project Management of
Multi-location PBX Installation

Responsible for the project management of University of Colorado Hospital’s 8000 port, multi-location PBX system. This included participating with team of PBX vendor, network vendor and customer interfaces. The project plan spanned one and one half years and included interface with General Contractor and building construction.

Responsibilities also included:

  • Coordinating with move teams to ensure critical dates were met for patient moves.

  • Ensuring a smooth transition of dial plan and the conversion from old system to the new system.

  • Oversight of user training and implementation of call accounting system with interface to general ledger system.

  • Ensuring full transparency with existing campus PBX.

  • Coordinating various disparate interfaces such as existing low voltage paging system with new high voltage paging system.
